This is a great topic, chocolate is my weakness and always has been. I’ve always been way more into sweets than savoury, my whole life. I was just telling a friend this morning how in high school, my best friend and I would exchange Christmas gifts with a spending limit of twenty dollars. When she asked me what I would like for Christmas, I told her I wanted her to spend the entire twenty dollars on chocolate bars. Its was a dream come true. Throw them on my bed and roll around on them. I actually didn’t but you get the gist.
I was a chocolate fanatic. Now as I’ve gotten older, I can’t handle the sweets as much. It really makes me feel old to say that but it’s true. I remember my grandparents saying funny things like that when I was a kid, passing on something sweet and delicious, saying no thanks it’s too sweet for me. A foreign concept to me as a child. Too sweet?! As if. But now I’m there and I’ve taken up a liking to dark chocolate. Specifically dark salted chocolate. Ughhhh it’s my weakness.
Also, because I gave up sugar April 9, I will longer be able to even attempt to enjoy a chocolate bar, unless it’s very dark chocolate. Giving up sugar makes all those temptations that much easier to turn down. I do keep a Lindt dark salted chocolate bar in my fridge at all times though and not a day goes by that I don’t reach in there and break a piece off and enjoy it. It’s best enjoyed with some carbonated water like San Pellegrino, which has no sugar either. This dark chocolate and San Pellegrino is my “happy hour” treat after a long day. Probably sound super boring but I’m not really into drinking alcohol either so sparkling water it is.
