Strawberries and snakes

Daily writing prompt
Scour the news for an entirely uninteresting story. Consider how it connects to your life. Write about that.

Okay wow, the person making up the prompts crawled out of hibernation this morning. This prompt almost seemed like too much work.

I really had to scour through headline after headline to find something that’s really pretty vanilla and unimportant. There were plenty of other headlines that were boring to me but if I admitted it here, I might look cold and unfeeling so I’ll just keep that to myself.

Strawberries and snakes don’t actually connect to my life at all. What jumped out at me about this was, like what’s the big deal? Strawberries come from nature, we’d hope, and snakes, bugs and rodents all exist in nature as well. What’s so shocking?

I’ve seen other news stories that are similar, oh a black widow spider found in a bag of grapes! Wow, big deal. How could the odd little creature NOT end up in these places?

Maybe it’s because I grew up on a farm, I don’t know, but I hardly find this kind of info news worthy. Maybe it’s because I have no fear of snakes, that’s probably a big part of it. If it was a mouse found in the strawberries, I’d die and I would never buy strawberries ever again.

  1. Hahaha!! I agree most of the news is quite a snooze fest 😴 either that or just crazy sensationalized. But yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from with this one lol πŸ˜‚

  2. It IS strange that’s newsworthy, but I suppose we expect packaging to thwart nature. πŸ™‚
