Happy to find out by reading other’s posts that I’m not the only one who missed the podcast train. And don’t plan on jumping on it anytime soon.
The when is what gets me. When would I have the time? I think some people pop a pair of ear buds in and listen while doing other tasks like chores around the house or maybe out for a walk? It just doesn’t appeal to me to have someone talking in my ear, like ever.
My “commute” to work is about two minutes so no time there and anyway I like having music on in the car.
If I’m on the seven to eight hour drive to Winnipeg, down a lonely highway through the Boreal forest with ne’er a town in site for hours, the last thing I want to hear is “and then Frankie and Polly dragged her sister’s body out the back door…”
The drive itself is spooky enough.
I imagine if it’s ever going to be anything it will be stand up comedy that I listen to. Something easy, light and if it makes me laugh then even better.
But I can’t imagine not singing to my favourite playlists while I’m driving. It’s the only time I really get to unleash my terrible voice. Sometimes by the time I get to Winnipeg my voice is getting hoarse.
Maybe eventually I’ll get on the podcast train but I like taking my time and I’m unbothered by missing my train. It happens too often really.
