Fangirl things

Daily writing prompt
Name the most expensive personal item you’ve ever purchased (not your home or car).

Ummm…I don’t own anything expensive. There, prompt answered.

Now hear me out, a Tupperware Convention but make it a WordPress Blogger Convention.

I was discussing this yesterday with one of my WP friends. Once a year (ish), WP puts on an event where we all meet at a beautiful location and over the course of a weekend, we meet and greet and we network. Maybe even take part in some workshops. Learning can be fun.

Actually meet each other in person! And I get to fangirl over all of my favourite bloggers.

Does this already exist?

Am I too enmeshed?

Maybe I’m too peopley of a person. But this would be a dream of mine.

  1. ive seen people here set up their own meet and greets and in other social networks it’s been done too. maybe it’s just me but every example i’ve heard of left people feeling disillusioned with experience 😭😭😭I’m sure it would never happen for a WordPress meetup 😅😅😅

hope you’re having a good weekend CJ! How are those Canada Goose Jackets? does it keep Sid warm? I’d get one but apparently, here in the US, if you’re caught wearing one people will kill you for it. 🥲🥲🥲 Mike

    1. I’d like to think it would be nothing but fun but that Netflix show Nine Perfect Strangers keeps popping up in my head!😂
But even still, I’d be down.
Canada Goose is definitely worth the $ especially when it’s -35 Celsius 🥶 but they are definitely not needed in warmer temps…anything warmer than -20 C and you’ll be sweating. I only made Sid wear his yesterday because he insisted on wearing shorts to daycare lol.
People will kill you to steal it??

      1. ok now I gotta look into Nine Perfect Strangers lol 😀

I’ll also look into Canada Goose. It became something of a status symbol with people here. I’ve always suspected that the quality was indeed worth the money but it unfortunately started getting popular enough for the type of behavior that followed. I think there were even schools that asked students to stop wearing the jackets for fear of violence! again, I’ll look into it. our coldest months are January and February and I’m outside in the elements every day.

      2. I have the big huge very not fashionable Canada Goose jacket, it was over $1100 ten years ago but will last me forever and I always tell people it’s like walking around inside of a little warm house! Worth every penny! I know they make more fashionable styles now but i doubt they’re as warm, although you probably don’t get subarctic temps where you are.

  2. Great hat! I’ve floated the idea of some kind of writers’ retreat with little a workshop or two. Probably not the easiest thing to pull off, but I’d be game!

  3. I totally LOVE this idea of a WP convention. Especially so, since of all my followers, you are the one person that consistently ’likes’ my posts. And I look forward to reading your posts, too. So I’d definitely attend such a gathering, especially to meet you!

    1. Aww thanks and I’d like to meet you as well! I think it would be so fun. Such a culmination of all this “virtual” chit chat we do here as bloggers.

  4. Sounds like a fun idea. My mom went to something like this for her Yahoo Messager pals back in the late 90’s.

  5. Since the blogs are coming back, why not bring that back too. I miss those 90’s Internet vibes.

  6. It was pre Facebook and Myspace. There was a pool lounge and different rooms for states and interests.

    1. I’m a bit too hillbilly for Myspace too, don’t recall that one 🤭
