Sweet enough

Daily writing prompt
What snack would you eat right now?

Right now it’s just after eight am and I’m not quite ready to start snacking, still on coffee number 2. But I’m dying for a piece of toast, on rye bread with peanut butter and Welch’s Concord Grape Jelly. When I’m doing intermittent fasting, I eliminate the toast from my diet as it’s chalk full of sugar, plus it’s not in my eating window.

In general though, I love Siggi’s yogurt and my homemade granola with a handful of blueberries sprinkled in. I ate this twice yesterday and need to make a new batch of granola asap, as soon as I’m finished blogging.

I love boiled eggs and we keep them on hand in the fridge 24/7. I like cucumbers with a bit of salt on them. Grapes are one of my favourite fruits as of late, which only makes sense as they are probably in the top three for sugar content. Of course I couldn’t have fallen in love with green apples, no I had to go and fall for grapes.

I will never turn down hummus and I prefer my homemade hummus to store bought but everyone else in the house prefers I don’t make it. It’s great with carrots or celery or crackers or pita bread. Mmmmm maybe I’ll make some this morning.

I have enough vices when it comes to food but luckily for some reason I’m not a sit down and devour some chips ‘n dip kind of person. I love chips but just a few at a time.

When it comes to chocolate these days, I prefer dark salted chocolate. Semi sweet is just too sweet. A Kitkat bar, ughhh too sweet. So that’s a good thing because when I was young I could have lived off of chocolate. I’d eat it for breakfast, along with a black coffee that contained four teaspoons of sugar.

Apparently I’ve never been sweet enough. Did I mention when I was a kid I used to steal the sugar cubes from the barn, meant for the horses?

i remember Welch’s Concord Grape Jelly. I lived off of that and toast when I was a poor college grad. For such a small piece of food, it amazingly helped me thorugh the morning Mike

  5. These photos! I want to go to there right now. πŸ™‚

Funny, the sugar cubes. Milk chocolate has almost lost its charm for me, which I’m thankful for. One less thing to cheat on my good intentions with. ❀

    1. I’m thankful too, to have lost my addiction to chocolate…it was pretty bad there for a while, in my younger years I was a chocoloholic.
