Hands down, it’s Mother’s Day. Although it’s not one of the bigger, more obvious “holidays”, if you Google holidays, it’s there.
Mother’s Day fills me up. I love being in the mom club.
My usual routine would be breakfast in bed, naturally. Too much coffee sweetened with hazelnut creamer. I look at photo albums all day long, in bed. And reminisce.
Usually there are gifts of some sort.
One of the best things about it all is how it makes the kids feel. I can see on their faces, they’re proud of the breakfast, proud to spoil me and I don’t know, I just feel the love times ten on Mother’s Day.
This year however, I’m giving it all up.
My one day of being spoiled. It kind of makes me sad but it’s for the greater good. I haven’t seen my parents since last July so I’ve promised my Mom I’m going down there to see them Mother’s Day weekend.
I haven’t spent a Mother’s Day with my Mom in decades. It will be special.
