The third thing I do each morning is open my journal and make an entry. It starts off with the date, time, temperature outside (the farmer in me likes to keep track I guess) and then before I spill my guts, I record the time the sun rose and what time it will set. Each day.
I couldn’t remember which day is supposed to be longer, yesterday or today but lo and behold the sunrise and sunset times were identical.
Sunrise: 4:46 am
Sunset: 10:19 pm
It’s actually only dark-dark in the night this time of year between about midnight and three am. I know that from my years of working shiftwork. It used to help me feel more awake in the night when it took so bloody long to actually get dark and then by three-thirty am you’re starting to see a bit of light to the east.
It’s the coolest thing.
Fun fact: my birthday is exactly six months from today and it’s the shortest day of the year.
Today is also National Indigenous Peoples Day. I usually get a ribbon shirt made for Sid especially to wear on this day but the lady who has sewn them the past three years wasn’t able to so I’m counting on his Dada (Clint) to sew the ribbons on this morning. He’s way more of a sewer than I’ll ever be.
We might check out the festivities if there’s anything cool going on that Sid would like, I was hoping for a pow-wow but I don’t think there is.
And other than that the other big excitement is Cordy’s prom today. I will definitely post pics down the road, photographer is hired for one pm.
As far as the prompt goes, hmmmm…Mom would sometimes make us a cinnamon spread to put on toast. Brown sugar, butter, cinnamon. It was one of my favourite treats. I need to make for Sid sometime.
