Life in kitchen

What foods would you like to make?

Mom, what’s for supper?

Ugghhh…tell me there will come a day when I miss hearing these words! By the time the girls both leave the nest, Sid will be onto saying it.

It’s like a jail sentence and this prompt is so close to it, it’s painful to answer. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love being the mom but being in charge of knowing what to have for supper every single night 365 days a year is beyond exhausting.

I love the cooking part, I just don’t like the figuring out what to cook part. Odds are, one of them is going to be unsatisfied because they are fuss pots.

So don’t ask me what I want to cook, please. It’s the bane of my existence.

  1. What a snack box! Certainly relate to the jail sentence feeling sometimes when it comes from decisions around food every day. It’s only recently that I’ve been able to opt out of some of that, but still fall into old patterns anyway. πŸ™‚

      1. I didn’t like Baked Beans as a kid! Like, the English type Heinz Baked Beans in a can. I somehow coped though πŸ™‚ Easy for a tired mum. I don’t think we had the choice of being ‘fussy’ in those days…
