This question seriously needs to be taken out of the rotation, it’s been asked over and over. Why don’t they ever ask what our names would be if we could name ourselves?
I don’t actually know the answer to that question but I do know it wouldn’t have been Carla Joanne, the lamest, most mundane name to exist. Carla is so ridiculously common and I despise common.
I grew up in a world of Carla/Karlas, Kimberlys, Jennifers, Michelles, Shannons, Candice/Candaces…you know, the early 80’s in rural Manitoba. So I guess I fit right in. Unfortunately. Well name-wise anyway.
My family has this thing where we name everyone after everyone (in the family). I’m named after both of my grandpas, my younger sister is named after our Dad, several cousins are also named after our grandparents, my niece is named after my older sister, my kids are all named after their dad, great-aunts, grandmas, grandpas etc.
You get the point.
We just keep recycling these names in one format or another. I’m guilty of it too, ’cause I thought that’s what you do. Luckily I did give my kids original first names at least.
As for me, at least for now I can go with CJ.
