Yes please

Daily writing prompt
Do you need time?

It’s interesting how you want time to speed up when you’re young, only to have that completely turn around on you when you reach a certain age.

From probably age eleven onwards, I couldn’t wait to grow up. Move out on my own. Get married and have kids. Really start life. Be in control of every little thing on my own.

Then when it all happens, it just picks you up like a kleenex in a windstorm and it’s over before you know it. Kids are grown up and nearly all gone. (Thank god for Sid).

And you find yourself looking down the barrel of the last half of your life and you just want it to SLOW DOWN.

So yes I’d love more time. An extra hour in each day. An extra day in each week. I’d even take an extra month in each year, preferably in the summer though.

  1. I was having a discussion the other day. If a tablet was invented that could revert your body back to 25, would you do it? I think almost everyone would, but would you want your mind altered also back to when you were 25? You might not even recognise yourself. And if you wanted to keep your mind the same age as now, does that mean in 50 years time we are old of mind but youg of body, and we act like old people, even with say dementure? Scary to be an old person in a young body, we would be completely different.

  3. It really is a strange phenomenon. I remember days dripping by when I was a kid. A day would last forever. Now, I just blink and it’s already trash day again. Didn’t I just take the trash cans to the street the other day? Time really zooms by…

I think if I had more time, I might not even notice the days are always so full. But to capture the timelessness of being a kid really would be amazing.

  5. When I turned 40, my cousin called to wish me happy birthday and he did it in the following manner, “congratulations your life is now half over“.

I’ll be 62 in December, time march is on. Yes I’ll take more time too.

    1. It’s a slap in the face to realize but good in a way too, so that hopefully we take heed and use it wisely ☺️

  6. Great post. I think having a young brain and and old body would be a riot. Imagine trying the dumb stuff we did as kids in a creaky, aching bod 😎😂
