Lazy old me

Daily writing prompt
What was your favorite subject in school?

I probably loved French class the most. Even though I didn’t know one single French-speaking person and wasn’t really sure if I would ever use it, I loved getting to know another language.

We probably enjoy what we’re naturally good at and don’t find too challenging, or maybe that’s just lazy old me, but it was “easy” to pick up. Because I got good marks with little effort, of course it was my fave.

French is Canada’s second official language so we have to take it up until high school but I also took it as an elective all throughout high school.

Has it served me at all? Nope. But I still remember bits and pieces of it and still enjoy it.

Someday I will visit Quebec and France and it will come in handy.

Soon it will be ice fishing time again, temps have been chilly, ice is bein’ made!
So beautiful

  1. No…it’s not ‘ lazy old you’. Getting good marks in a class without struggling or really having to buckle down makes it enjoyable. You have a natural pre-disposition to it. Your ability to learn a new language is probably what helps you communicate effectively with people now as a grown-up.

  2. You are lucky, I think I’m bad at learning languages. You should put Quebec on your holiday list, just for practise! My mum took us to Noumea (New Caledonia) when we were young just to experience another language (French!), I think because my sister was learning French at school. As a side note.. my dad got severe sunburn on the first day and was moisturised on the hotel bed for the rest of the week. He thought he had tough skin from the old days working on the farm. Was funny for us 😉

    1. That must’ve been sooo cool!!
There’s nothing quite like laughing at dads and their foolish mistakes! I remember my dad dunking his finger into a bowl on the counter of what he thought was icing but it was actually Noxema cream lol

      1. Eeek. Haha, true. We all do stupid things I suppose, but dad’s top the list 🙂 I’m not going to mention any of my stoopid things!

  3. I enjoyed my French class, too. Mr. Ferguson, just after lunch. 👍🏻Je te retrouverai à Québec, afin que nous puissions pratiquer notre français. (Merci, Monsieur le Traducteur.) 😄
