I’m not really a brands person, in fact I consider myself an anti-brands person and I take exception only with my mascara. I think that probably brand name items are better quality than off brand items and I hate to admit that but it’s true. Is that always my compass though when I’m shopping? Absolutely not.
Many of the things in my home including my clothing, are from thrift stores. Thrifting is one of my favourite pastimes and I’m not just saying that because it’s trendy. At times, you can get top brands at thrift stores and if I do score something that would have been really pricey when it was brand new, due to the name on the tag, then yeah I get very excited about that. But I won’t go looking for specific brands and pay more just to wear that name, no way.
I was actually just arguing with my seventeen year old yesterday that my off brand jean jacket is way nicer than her brand name jean jacket. Of course she didn’t agree and went on to make fun of the cheapy little store it came from but I stood my ground and I firmly believe my jacket is way cooler.
I’m scanning the kitchen as I type this and I realize maybe I’m not as anti-brand as I thought. The peanut butter on the counter, it’s Kraft and it always has been and probably always will be. Oops. As well, ketchup, I really do prefer the Heinz brand of ketchup, yep.
