Daily writing prompt got me wracking my brain this morning. Who would I like to talk to, in person, as opposed to, over a device? A couple of people. My roommate from college-turned into a lifelong friend, Bridgette. It’s been almost 25 years since we first met and have stayed good friends.
Time goes so fast and sometimes a year passes before we actually get in contact with each other. There was actually a seven year span where we didn’t see each other and then when we corrected that and spent a weekend together it was like not a day had passed, except that we had so much to catch up on. It’s been almost a year now since we’ve seen each other so we’re due for a visit soon, I’d just prefer it be her and I though, no kids, no husbands, so we can really dish it.
The other person I’d love to see and talk to in person is my Aunty Janice. I’ve written about her before. She’s the grown up I most looked up to when I was younger and still do. She has such a zest for life and a positive attitude. She lives provinces away so it’s been a year and a half since I was out west to see her but I need to make that happen asap as both she and my uncle have had some health problems and are in their eighties.
The person I’d like to talk to who’s no longer of this earth, and that’s actually the first place my brain went with this prompt, is my Gramma. Growing up, she lived just a thirty second bike ride down the road from us and so many of my memories involve her. I spent a lot of time with her and I always felt we were very close and I was “Gramma’s girl”. She was a character and a half, too much for this prompt here today, so I may write about her down the road. But I’d give anything to be able to talk to her again. She was taken suddenly and more than twenty years ago but she’s still alive and well in my memories.
