Love that rearview mirror

Daily writing prompt
Who is your favorite historical figure?

If I’m being honest, I have no response for this prompt but I am hijacking it because I get more readers if I post here, than on an original post. I did try to think of any notable historical figures that might be floating in my brain somewhere but nope, came up with nothing. I googled, but honestly none of it was interesting to me. I guess historical figures are not my jam.

Of all the responses I read, Adam Fenner’s was number one in my mind. Check it out.

I woke up super excited this morning. My summer, and life on easy street begins on this beautiful day. My students start their Senior Practicum today and so because this is the last leg on their journey to completing the course, I don’t have to be there. They are partnered up with a preceptor and it’s all in their hands. I only have to check in on them every once in a while and at the end, do some evaluations.

I don’t know for sure yet how much vacation I will get this summer but for sure I will be off until beginning of August. Still undecided as to whether I will travel anywhere or not. Two voices in my head are fighting each other. One says, go somewhere, see some things, YOLO!! And the other says, life is expensive right now, your oldest child is moving away and going to Uni in the fall, that’s going to be costly so just do a staycation and live simply for the summer.

I’m all about being still, enjoying the backyard with my little guy. Set up a pool for him, maybe a little tent just for fun. Lay on the deck and read while he plays. Go to the beach every few days and of course, fishing in the boat whenever Clint has days off.

My Mom turns seventy five in July and my older sister asked if I was planning on going down for it. Of course I will, how can I not. So there’s that to do. It’s a six plus hour drive for us to go there. And I haven’t been “home” since December so yes, I’ll be there. But I don’t really consider being around all my family, a vacation. Hehehe. No seriously, it’s not.

Yesterday I also got my big assignment over with for the teaching course I am taking online. I was super stressed about it but it’s in the rear view mirror now so I really feel like I can relax. I need to exercise every day, including yoga, which I’ve been neglecting for two weeks now. I feel so stiff and old and really need to stretch.

Oh and one last thing, it’s been FREAKING cold here!! Like had to turn the furnace on kind of cold. But, that’s also in the rear view mirror (my favourite kind of mirror), as the temps are going only up for the next little while. Today, a high of 21!!!! And sunshine. Oh that’s Celsius, in Fahrenheit it’s 69.8. Bring on summer!
