Body over brain

Daily writing prompt
What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

Since summer arrived and work ended, my body and my brain have been in a bit of a tousle about sleep/rise times. When I am working I get into a great routine of bed early (asleep by eleven pm) and up around five thirty am.

My brain wants to stay in that routine but my body says no, hit snooze over and over, you have no place to be anyway. And I let my body win. I really detest “sleeping in” and normally would beat myself up for it but there’s no benefit to that so I will let it be.

As a teenager and young adult I was the complete opposite of now. I liked staying up late and sleeping until ten am or so. I was not a morning person and saw no glory in getting up with the sun. I shared a room with my younger sister and she was my alarm clock and got me up for school or to feed our calves. Getting up in the morning felt like torture then.

Now I actually enjoy getting up in the morning, anticipating what the day will bring and with a three year old underfoot you just never know.

I guess back to the question, right now I am going to bed around eleven thirty pm and getting up between six and seven am. Lucky for me I am one of those people who is asleep almost the second my head hits the pillow. I’ve found that six hours of sleep seems to be my magic number, any less or any more and I am groggy.

    1. It’s funny, I don’t remember the pups or having the picture taken although I do remember thinking I should have the black one cause I have black hair and she should have the sandy coloured one as she is blonde…but we’re actually holding opposites lol

  1. My wife also falls asleep quickly. She usually reads for a while. Within less than a minute of putting her book down she’s sleeping. I wish I could do thaat.

  2. Lucky to be a fast sleeper, and to have so many great photos, too! I used to be able to sleep 9 hours a night, very deeply. Those days are gone with the wind. 🙂
