A haunted hotel

Daily writing prompt
What are your future travel plans?

Funny you should ask, my little daily writing prompt, in about five hours the kids and I (minus Taz), are getting in the car and driving southwest for about six and a half hours. There will be ne’er a town or gas station for the first four hours. We will see only trees, lakes and a couple of campgrounds.

Our destination today is my childhood home and depending on what time we arrive, mom and dad may already be in bed for the night, seems they go to bed earlier these days. Tomorrow is my mom’s seventy-fifth birthday and we are having a family bbq at my older sister’s.

Thursday we are continuing on another five hours south, but towards the east this time, to our final destination, Winnipeg. Hoping to track down a used car for my older daughter, do some shopping and some eating. It’ll be a quick trip and hopefully we accomplish what we need to get done.

The hotel I’ve booked in Winnipeg is somewhere that I haven’t stayed since I was nineteen, the Hotel Fort Garry. It’s very old and there have been rumours for years that it’s haunted, the girls are excited.

Saturday we’ll make the seven and a half hour drive back to Thompson. Almost two thousand kilometres in four days but I’m looking forward to it, I haven’t been out of town since April. I hope to keep writing each day, so as to not break my streak.
