Hooker nails

Daily writing prompt
How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

On any given day chances are I’ll be wearing a dress, unless I’m working out or doing yoga. My skin is tanned, real on top, fake on bottom. Lots of freckles. Almost every finger has a ring, some two. My nails are super long acrylic nails and bright pink. They make typing on my laptop a real chore.

I can’t have long or fake nails a lot of the time for work so when summer vacation hit, it was the first thing I did. I was so proud of them and when my daughter picked me up at the nail appointment, she laughed her head off and took a picture for the groupchat she has with her closest friends saying “Oh my god mom they look like hooker nails!”

I want to keep them, I love them in spite of their impracticality. I may get them filled one more time before school starts back up.

As previously mentioned in the almost identical prompt three days ago, I am five foot seven. Average build. Nothing to see here. My hair is long-ish, past my shoulders and black. I have a lot of grey hair (also already been discussed up the wazoo), so I box dye my roots. My natural hair colour is dark brown but I prefer black.

Eyes are blue but sometimes look grey or green depending on what I’m wearing. Oh and I wear glasses. I have since grade ten I believe. I used to only wear contact lenses but these last four or five years, my vision is much worse and the optometrist mentioned the evil word BIFOCALS two visits ago but I am not yet ready to succumb to something that’s for old people.

from a few years ago when I ran a spraytan business in my “spare time”, this was pre-Sid and I worked a lot!

  1. I’ve been wearing progressive lenses since I was in my early 40’s. Now I don’t need glasses unless I’m reading because of cataract surgery (my family seems to need that in our late 50’s) but I wear a progressive pair (clear on top, reading on bottom) because it makes things easier and because I’ve worn glasses for 53 years.

    1. It was meant in a tongue in cheek kinda way lol, obviously I am the perfect age to need them and have been for a few years. I sometimes have to take my glasses off when I’m eating so I can focus on my plate!! It’s just one of my stubborn hang ups….for some reason everytime someone mentions bifocals, my mind goes to my Gramma 😬🙄😬🙄😬

  2. I’m also 5’7’’ lol, and I’m blind as a bat 🤣 I could go for a spray tan! It’s been a minute…I used to be really tan as well, but alas, I’ve given some of that up, haha!

      1. Hey, maybe you’re right. 😊 I often feel like things do end up coming out that are needed, whether that’s to purge or to actually answer the question, lol

  3. So, maybe funnily, I’m 5’7″ too. 🙂 Here in MIami we love ‘hooker nail’s and most spend lots of money on them! I’m self-conscious about not having long nails, but work breaks them and I’m thrifty. 🙂

Honestly, you seem just so full of personality, fitting of ornamentation!
