Unraveling

Daily writing prompt
What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

I don’t want to make any changes in the world with my blog and pretty sure it’s not even possible.

I blog for selfish reasons. An outlet. I feel better when I write. Especially now that I’m used to it, I seem to wake up in the morning with this little feeling in my chest like a knot, and typing on this keyboard seems to unravel it. I only wish it didn’t take me forty plus years to figure that out. I held back because it seemed too scary to start.

Writing in this blog is not the type of writing I thought I’d do or started out doing. I like telling other people’s stories, but local stories to a local audience on this platform makes no sense.

So I answer these prompts and talk about myself. It’s self-serving. I’m just thankful a handful of people actually read my posts. I guess we all feel that way, grateful for readers, grateful for each other.

  1. My reasons are probably similar. It’s nice to see that people read what I write. Only a small fraction of my subscribers read though. I kind of wonder why the others subscribed.

    1. Yeah idk…maybe they feel like sometime they’ll have the time to get to it and never do 🤷🏻‍♀️

    2. This made me think about some of the blogs I’ve subscribed to but, when actually reading, am often skipping over because of time.

      1. I unsubscribed to a few blogs a couple months ago. I realized I wasn’t interested in the content and reading the posts was a chore rather than a pleasure.

      2. I go through periodically, but I also follow a few people whose writing I love, but their posts are so long that it’s hard to read every day. I always think ‘One day I’ll go back and catch up with this person’, but then I get back in my usual groove. 🙂

i like wordpress for this reason. there’s definitely groups of people here that intrinsically understand the value of support and being listened to. just a little bit of participation goes such a long way. this contrasts to other social media forums whose experiences are virtually hollowed superficialities.

i read your post last night and i can totally relate to the small town general store. it really goes to show that no matter what, people will make do with what they can make do with and that a high trust community is a blessing that can’t be easily articulated with words. it was a lovely post. 1. Yes it’s so true…and at the sake of sounding like a negative nelly, for the most part those things are just a part of the past…which is sad…days gone by 😶

  3. I’d say that we are a lot alike. My blog started out as therapy – a place to write what I was thinking and feeling. Then I began to follow blogs with similar interests. Through that, the connections kept coming. The WordPress community is really something I appreciate. The words of comfort and strength through bad times were so important. I know that no every one reads my posts, but it is sure nice to have people who do and interact with me.

    1. I agree, it feels like a comfy couch in a coffee shop of people similar, yet in many ways different than myself…we hangout or we come ‘n go….but we keep coming back each day for the coffee ☕️

  4. You’re right. I’m grateful too. I don’t have many subscribers but at least I’m getting to know some people in this Writing Community. There’s definitely a sense of camaraderie here.💕😊🌺

  6. Blogging is indeed an outlet and therapeutic. As for subscribing, I believe people do so hoping that you’ll subscribe back. Even though many people may not read our posts, I believe that the few who do so appreciate our thoughts and efforts. They are a reason not to give up. 👐
