I like that this response can either be something tangible or something deeper like a thought, feeling or attitude. I tend to think they’re probably looking for the latter however. Maybe I’m wrong. I’m going with the former.
One thing I don’t go out the door without is my prescription sunglasses. I cannot be without them. Even if I’m just running outside for a second, I quickly switch my glasses before I go out the door. Whether it’s sunny or cloudy or even raining, I have them on always.
I’ve grown very dependent on them so much so that my eyes seem very sensitive to light as a result. When I go uptown to get groceries, I don’t even bring along my regular glasses anymore, I just wear my sunglasses in the store.
I used to think that people who wore sunglasses indoors were trying to look cool lol. But I’m beyond caring what people think. The workers at the grocery store haven’t seen my eyes in years. It’s even worse in winter with the glare of the snow!
Every now and then, if I stop to have a conversation in the store with someone I know, I feel the need to take them off. Like I’m being rude if I leave them on. I sometimes explain and apologize. I am blind as a bat without them and no longer bring my regular glasses so in order to hear people when I’m talking to them, I need to be able to SEE them. If I take my sunglasses off, I can’t hear or comprehend as well, I know that’s probably in my head but it’s a thing. And I honestly can barely see past my nose.
I was reading this senior’s newsletter and one lady was actually saying that talking to someone with sunglasses on was rude! I was shocked. I mean I don’t want to come across as rude but these are prescription sunglasses not just regular old sunnies. So I’m allowed right?
