There are trendy phrases that get over used and I like it when I see that someone has made a list of them and called them out on social media. For example “So, I did a thing”. Just like the trendy baby names, let’s kiss this stuff goodbye, it’s sooo last year.
But I fall into these traps too and it’s difficult to get out. The word nice…it’s so mundane. Ughhh like could you think of a worse word to describe something? Yet I use it. The word amazing…I’m so guilty of it. But I literally find things amazing and have to say it. I need to look up a synonym. It has to be a word that sounds like me though, something I would say. Believable.
Lastly, the word awesome. I say this entirely way too much and I realize it. I know it, I’m owning it. I just can’t find a replacement that rolls off tongue though. I can’t say fabulous. I can’t say wonderful. I don’t know what to replace it with.
This is something I should figure out before I go back to work next week.
I love words and I love it when someone uses a word I don’t know and I have to google it. You would think my vocabulary would reflect that a little more.
