School sux

It actually has been a minute since I wrote from my the journals of my teenage years, my Calendiaries (diary written in the little square of a wall calendar). So here goes. I was 16 and starting Grade 12.

September 1, 1992

School sux. Went to Swan. Got 2 pairs of jeans. Got my hair dyed a reddish colour.

September 2, 1992

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. It was really boring. Classes are 80 minutes long. I’m taking Biology, French and English this semester.

September 3, 1992

School was dumb as ever. Classes are too long. It rained.

September 4, 1992

I hate school. Mom had this whole week off but she works tomorrow. It’s still raining. Watched “Jacob’s Ladder”. It was weird.

Can you feel the love that I had for high school? Looking back, even this many years later, high school was not a great experience for me. I didn’t get involved in any extra curricular activities. I didn’t study. And I hated pretty much everybody.

I wasn’t a popular kid. My best friend was gorgeous, I was just her pale, skinny, dark haired sidekick. To this day, popular people annoy me. The cheerleader/quarterback couples make me cringe.

I survived and graduated. But I agree with 16 year old me, school sux. My youngest daughter Cordelia starts Grade 12 tomorrow, I hope she has a better experience than I did.

Ughhh don’t ask me why I dressed like that….

  1. Parlez-vous francais? Because I don’t:-) Is that a Canadian thing?

I went to an all boys school, a completely different dynamic I presume. There were a certain group of boys the female teachers preferred to talk to, that was about it. Other than that it was like Lord of the Flies!

    1. No I don’t really speak it, at least I’d fumble badly if I tried…I can understand a bit. It’s mandatory up until high school (I think) and after that just an elective but I chose to keep going with it ‘cause it was easy.
Omg the poor teachers in the all boy school 🤭
