Eagles riding shotgun

Daily writing prompt
What’s your all-time favorite album?

I feel like the world doesn’t really speak in albums anymore. We speak songs or hits. And for obvious reasons.

We don’t go to record or music stores anymore and buy albums. We download songs, maybe sometimes a whole album but I can’t be bothered honestly. I was so over fast forwarding the tape or skipping the CD to the song you actually wanted to hear.

I love the fact that my music is all just the songs I love, just the meat itself and none of the fat. I didn’t like the fat. I had no patience for it.

When I think back to the days when entire albums were the only way to get the song or songs you wanted, these were the ones that stand out to me:

Thriller by Michael Jackson – I was probably 6 or 7 years old. I think we had the actual record but then later the cassette tape too.

Rumors by Fleetwood Mac – In high school, someone introduced me to Fleetwood Mac, I can’t remember who and even though it was the 90’s, I was in love with the whole bell bottom jeans, hippie vibe. It’s described as pop/rock but to me it was a bit folk music-esque.

Eagles Greatest Hits Vol 2 – I remember listening to this CD on repeat in my little 1980 Chevrolet Chevette. It was around the time I turned 18 that I bought it and then afterwards more and more Eagles CD’s rode around on my passenger seat. They are one of the best.

  2. I like your music choice; I used to collect albums and play them to death; now I just download songs; there’s an Eldorado of material out there —

  4. […] CJ and I have this one in common for sure. I used to dress like Stevie with the jagged edge skirts and still think she’s ultra cool. Saw Fleetwood Mac in concert once as well. πŸ™‚ […]
