Daily writing prompt
What have you been putting off doing? Why?

Oooh there’s just so many things, where do I start?

I’ve been putting off getting back into shape, for over two years now. My glutes are not what they used to be, nothing on me is what it used to be and I do want it all back. I just don’t know how or when.

I’ve always said I was going to get better with, be smarter with, money. I keep saying it. Yet I don’t do it.

Right from when I was a kid, I was the type who spent it as fast as I made it. I’m not that irresponsible now but I could do much better in terms of saving and investing. I feel like the point of making money is to enjoy it. But then I do envy people who have lofty savings and retirement money set aside. For me, it’s an internal struggle I have with myself. I should, but I don’t. YOLO sometimes gets in the way.

I really really really need to mop my floors. That’s something I always procrastinate doing. I haven’t figured out why. There’s just something so unappealing about it. I vaccum or sweep at least every other day, mostly because of the dog hair and so the floors are often ready to just be mopped but something holds me back. Maybe I need a new mop or something. Treat myself.

Years ago, I always scrubbed the floors by hand because that’s how my Mom did it but then when Clint and I shacked up, he brought a mop and mop pail with him and so I started using that. For some reason I just don’t use it often enough though.

If anyone reading has any tips or tricks to get me in shape, better with money and have clean floors, please let me know and you can be rather blunt about it if you wish. I have thick skin.

  1. When I had fallen off the fitness wagon for a spell, when I was getting back into it, I kept the expectations low for a week or two. I essentially made a challenge for myself that I wouldn’t leave the house until I had done at least 100 pushups. Which meant if I had to be somewhere, I best get my ass to it.
You could do that with whatever exercises or in whatever style you wish.
Won’t leave the house until doing X reps of Y, or won’t leave the house until doing 10 minutes of exercise.
It’s dumb, but it worked for me. After a couple weeks of ramp up, I went back to a more normal cadence.

    1. Thanks Kevin! Yeah I kind of considered something like that, to start out I would just do β€œlazy” exercises like anything that involved being on the floor lol…there are a lot of different weight exercises you can do from laying down really…but I thought it might be a good place to start…nothing that involves standing up πŸ˜‚

      1. Anything to start is better than zero, right? And a lot more than a lot of folks do, so you’re already ahead if you do that.

  2. for me, it took having some health issues last year for me to make positive changes in my diet and exercise routine. the strong encouragement of a good friend helped a lot as well. I made dietary changes as well, after it was suspected that I had IBS. turns out, it was something else. glad that is in the past now…
it helps to do SOMETHING, even if it’s just one small thing. momentum almost always follows…

    1. Yes thanks Andrew…I keep thinking of that saying β€œmake time for your health or you’ll be forced to make time for your illness” or something like that πŸ€”

  3. I was going to be cruel and say I have some great tips and tricks:

    1. get me in shape – workout and eat less,
    2. better with money – spend less, and;
    3. have clean floors – use the mop.

But I know it’s only funny for me, sorry. πŸ™‚

I was gonna say marry someone rich, but I don’t want to rock that boat.

I totally understand you: I’ve put on some weight lately too, and I want to get back into shape πŸ˜€
I hate mopping, but with music, it’s actually kind of fun πŸ˜‰
This might sound weird (and forgive me my social awkwardness), but I’ve noticed again that we have a similar eye shape and color – must be those Slavic rootsπŸ˜…

  5. I bought a Hydrovac on one of the Amazon Prime sales. It vacuums and washes the floor at the same time. It’s my new toy. I love washing the floors now and am surprised how dirty the water gets.

  9. Funny comment about your floors. That is some exercise! Just turn on some music and maybe spin a few times. Since you asked… here is my two cents~ set realistic goals with exercise and savings and remember small steps over time add up with both and on those days when you don’t feel like doing either, remind yourself how good it will feel after and over time. ✨
