Oooh I like this question. I’m not sure of the answer, but I like the question.
It has to be a democratic country for sure. Somewhat safe. I like old things. Old buildings, old architecture. My city has none of that. It only came to be in the late 1950’s. When I say old, I’m talking early 1900’s type of architecture. Or older.
I like the idea of a climate where the outdoors bleed into the indoors and vice versa. When I went to Barbados we first had to land in St Lucia and I remember being so in awe that the airport terminal there had no doors to enter. It was just wide open and walk on in type of situation.
I guess when you don’t need to keep snow and frigid temps out, you can just let the outdoors in. I love that idea.
I thought it was really cool also that there were no screens on the windows in the place we stayed anyway, in Barbados. The shutters were slats but once you opened them, any little critter could come on in. And they did, the little tiny lizards visited.
As long as it’s not mice, I’m fine with critters.
I don’t know, then again Switzerland or Austria would be so beautiful and I think they are great places to live. Then I’m back to snowy winters and I’m not sure that’s what I want.
What I want is a century old, two story house on say fifteen wooded acres, with a big garden. It has a front porch where I can sit and relax. It’s situated two hours from a city, a city with history. It’s warm ten months of the year. Only December and January bring snow. But not the frigid cold temps we get here, I want it to not get colder than -5 degrees Celsius.
Too much to ask?
