A good person

Daily writing prompt
What book are you reading right now?

Couple days back I had to confess that I’m not exercising regularly, I had been but then fell off the wagon again last week when I got the flu. Now I have to confess to everyone I also haven’t been reading. Great.

I finished the Meghan and Harry documentary last night on Netflix so now that that’s out of the way, I will make room for reading.

There is nothing I love more than finding a book I can’t put down. A book I fall right into and the rest of the world fades away. But it seems more and more difficult as the years go, to find those types of books.

I can’t read fiction anymore, period. I hear my Dad’s voice saying “that’s so fake, that would never happen”, except now it’s me thinking it. Why do I have to be such a naysayer?

I think what I’ll do is make some sort of pact with myself to put my phone down and pick up a book. I have two on the go right now. And though it’s going to be a busy weekend with Sid’s birthday party happening tomorrow and I have I don’t know, like three dozen cake pops to make, plus cupcakes, I will force myself to read.

Ten pages a day or something simple like that.

It’s honestly so hard to be a good person and do all the things you’re supposed to do, each and every day.

  1. Honestly, my recently discovered brain hack would come in handy here. I would tell myself I was going to get my book and sit down in my reading chair. That’s all I would tell myself. And from what I’ve seen, once I was in the chair holding the book it would be natural to open the book and read. As a matter of fact, I have a couple of books I have been putting off and I am going to try this.

    2. Popping in to say YES what good advice! 😀 Close to priming.

      1. I recognize the word priming but went and looked up the meaning. Yes, VERY much like priming! Cool to know it’s an actual psychological concept! Thanks, Stephanie.

      2. It’s been so helpful for me! Right now I have two standing fans just outside the area where they and their filters will be cleaned. They look ugly there, a little in the way, but they are lined up ready to go!

  2. 🙂 np CJ. and you know I gotta say that I’m kind of the same way now with books too. it has to be really good fiction in order for me to read it – like really top tier stuff.

finally, an early Happy Birthday to Sid! I hope he has so much fun and joy tomorrow. Mike

    1. Thank you! Kid’s birthdays are soooo much work lol but I keep reminding myself it’s just two hours and then done for another year. At the same time of course I want it to be the best day ever for him!

  5. I don’t read enough, but I try to read the classics, there’s a reason why they are classics, they are good books. I’m reading Frankenstein right now. Although I do read Economics books when I can’t get to sleep.
