Oddball

Daily writing prompt
If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with all the extra time?

Scrolling Instagram this morning I saw that quote “remember that some of the best times in your life haven’t happened yet”.

What’s the cut off age for this? I feel like it’s geared to young people who are maybe experiencing some of the stress that comes with high school or college/university or just all the peer pressure stress. It’s probably meant to cheer them up and have them look forward and keep on keepin’ on.

But would it apply to someone like me? I’m forty-seven, soon to be forty-eight. Have some of the best times in my life not happened yet? Or have they all happened? Geez it’s kind of depressing.

To the prompt, I don’t know what I would do all night long if not sleep. It’s weird to think our bodies could keep going without any rest. I know I’m the oddball out when I say that one bonus of not sleeping is not dreaming.

I’m not a fan of dreams and I purposely take Magnesium every night to try and dull them. It worked great at the start but it seems my body has gotten used to them and now one and half tablets still leaves me remembering the odd dream.

I think I’d just like to eat all night long if I wasn’t sleeping. Just an all night long feast, every night. And you don’t gain weight. Not from the all night long feast. Sounds like heaven.

I’m in my 30s; I’d say “define the best times.” Life is a mixture of woe and delight…
Oh, you are the first person I’ve met/read who wants to dull their dreams and not have them! πŸ™‚

That’s what I usually tell myself, but I can add: be selfish sometimes and appreciate yourself, because you/we/all of us deserve it πŸ˜€ And this makes every moment a bit more precious πŸ™‚

    1. Lol thanks Daniel, I hope it didn’t sound too doom β€˜n gloom but I think you must get to a certain age where you can no longer say that the best times are still ahead πŸ˜…

I hear you, and it certainly does feel that way sometimes…But life is full of surprises, as they say. Stay weird, and have a great day! 😜

  3. You once again voice something I have thought, coming across that kind of quote, but which would never escape my lips. haha Thanks for bringing it to the surface. I hope there are a few big great things yet to come, and I’m 54. Then again, I’m a dreamer. lol

Love this photo! I’ve always wanted to be able to do the little cat eye whisps on the side of my eyes, but because they slant downward it looks odd. Alas. Jealous. πŸ˜€

Thanks Stephanie but I’m such an amateur with makeup, everyday it looks different and sometimes one eye looks different than the other πŸ˜‚

    1. Lol πŸ˜‚ but really Michele like these quotes need to come with some disclaimers or instructions or something…like β€œdo not read if over the age of 45, it won’t apply to you, your fun is over” πŸ˜…

  5. I like to wish life gets sweeter with age. When a parent sees their child ride a bike for the first time it should give the parent more joy than the time they rode their first bike. That’s like 2X sweetness. By the time a parent witnesses a grandchild succeed in life, the sweetness is 3X and beyond.
