Nuts ‘n bolts

Daily writing prompt
Are you more of a night or morning person?

I was never a morning person until I hit my 40’s. I’m not sure why but all of a sudden I needed that time in the morning, before everyone else was up and before I went to work, to have some calm and quiet. Some time to meditate, do some deep breathing and (before blogging) write in my journal.

I set my alarm for 5:30 am but lately it’s rare that I actually get out of bed that early.

Next week I will be doing Clinical with my students and I need to be at work for 6:30 am so I’ll likely set my alarm for 5. And no hitting snooze.

I’m in a WordPress funk right now and feeling very uninspired with what I’m writing. Maybe it’s because I’m rushing too much lately. Or too much background noise in my head.

I feel the pressure of Christmas looming. I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping, which I’ll do mostly online. Canada Post is on strike right now so I’m not even sure if what I order will arrive if the strike lasts beyond the 25th.

If I have to say something positive this morning it’s that I can work from home today and that means Sid can stay home with me, which I love.

Also, Clint and I took two huge boxes containing twenty-nine pairs of brand new and brand name running shoes to the airport yesterday to be shipped up today, to the community where Sid originally lived. They are for the kids in the school who desperately need school shoes.

The vice-principal messaged me, excited to receive the shoes for the kids, saying one kid was looking around for glue last week, to glue together the shoes he has, as they’re falling apart.

I was able to purchase the shoes with money I raised through a raffle for some Winnipeg Jets tickets. This makes me so happy. And feeling so grateful.

That is a beautiful charitable thing you do. I hope today is a good day for you. I totally understand the need to get up early to get anything done. My problem is Iโ€™m also a night owl so I just resign myself to not getting enough sleep ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s looking very Christmas-ey there already! You have a lovely home and family. If it makes you feel any better, your writing doesn’t come off as uninspired at all to me!

I did download Bluesky and browsed but nothing too interesting there Iโ€™d sayโ€ฆso similar to X I felt. I deleted X a few months ago.

Very welcome, and I’m glad you were inspired enough to give it a look! ๐Ÿ˜‹ I think we’re spoiled by WordPress, at least that’s how I feel (and I’m A-OK with it).

  4. Nicely done, CJ! I love your stories, but it’s natural to have times when not feeling as inspired. Lots going on this season!

  5. I’ve heard that boredom is actually good for you (I think there was a Veritasium (on youtube) video about this). You can have a ‘breakout’ and get past things you’ve been stuck on. Hopefully!

  7. How wonderful that you were able to help kids with a shoe purchase. How compassionate and inspiring. Thank you for sharing and good luck with that early rise! I love it, too though it does get harder with the later sunrise and cooling temps. ๐Ÿ˜Š
