It might not be my favourite type of exercise but since six-thirty this morning I’ve been running back and forth across a parking lot that connects two buildings. Did I mention the temperature this morning was -30 degrees Celsius, -44 if you factor in the wind?
My students have started their Clinical rotations and some students are at the hospital having their acute experience while the rest are doing their long term care rotation in a personal care home. Because there’s only one of me and I can’t be in two places at once, I am relying on the wonderful staff to take my students under their wings.
And I get my steps in, back and forth, back and forth all day. Checking in with each group every hour or so.
Luckily the day is flying by and the sun is shining, albeit from a very low place in the sky. The sun doesn’t get too high this time of year. It doesn’t rise until around nine am and by three-thirty it’s starting to get dark.
