How did you come up with your blog name?

I’ve told this story before I believe. “Bloom where you’re planted” has been one of my favourite quotes for years. The idea that no matter what your life situation is and more specifically no matter WHERE you live, especially if it’s not paradise, you need to make the best of it. If you’ve seen where I live, you’ll understand.

So anyway, I was trying to dream up a name for my blog that was you know, cute, catchy, memorable and made sense to me. Since I live way up north I came up up with bloom.planted.north and that’s that.

If your blog was a person (fiction or real), who would it be?

Well if it couldn’t be me, which would make the most sense, then it would be my Gramma. I feel like I have many of her qualities, albeit more watered down and modern versions of them. Like she, I am direct and possibly too honest with people sometimes. And my kids tell me I talk way too loud in public, which I definitely got from her.

What helps you create new content if you feel like you need some inspiration?

Besides the daily prompts, the only original writing I do are excerpts from the journals or “calendiaries” I kept as a teenager. I hope to get the nerve up to try some poems possibly in the new year.

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with?

I don’t really know how a collaboration would work, it doesn’t interest me that much to be honest. If someone asked me to collaborate I’d probably pee my pants because I’d be so thrilled but then you have to put in the work. I’ve always found from working in groups or pairs in school and such, other people don’t like my ideas. So there’s that. Once bitten, twice shy maybe?

Is there anything more you wish you had or would like to learn as a blogger?

One of my coworkers asked me today how my blog was going and if I made money off of it. I was like WHAT? NOOOOO. Do people make money off of blogs? I suppose with ads and such they do. But that’s not what I want to turn this into and lord knows I’m not talented enough. I write because it gets all this spooled up energy out of me but if, all of a sudden, WP was paying people per word, I’d be so down.

Do you have a specific style of blogging?

Not really. It’s just me being me. Answering the prompts. Throwing in bits of my life. Sometimes I sort of plan out things I’m going to say, but mostly it’s fly by the seat of my pants.
