It’s a fickle life

Daily writing prompt
Is your life today what you pictured a year ago?

I didn’t picture my life a year ago. I usually don’t look that far forward. Expectation leads to disappointment.

The only thing that’s different (thankfully) is this blog. I’m happy that my family have their health. I’m grateful to still be in this job. It’s not been made a permanent position yet, it’s still a term position but as long as it continues to be renewed each year, I’ll be happy with that.

Sid is growing, thriving and so smart. He drew his first letter yesterday thanks to his big sis Bella-Lena, the most perfect uppercase letter E I have ever seen.

I hope and pray a year from now there haven’t been many changes in myself or my family once again. I know how fickle life can be. The powers that be are up there just waiting to snatch us from this life. It can happen at anytime, to anyone.

Leturos crosses my mind often when I’m on WP. He was one of the first bloggers to not just subscribe to me but also actually read and comment on my blogs. He seemed like such a gentle soul. I hope his partner and kids are doing well without him this holiday season.

  1. I think about him a lot here too, missing his comments and also just the straight forward way he wrote about his day. ❀

    Congratulations on Sid's perfect E. πŸ˜€

  2. i’m glad for you that you’ve got these things falling into place.

and as for your hopes a year from now, i am totally in agreement. too many ppl wish for more and more for the future all the time, when there are times when having a balance and harmony is just as, if not better. i won’t get into it too much here but i also understand what you mean about the fickleness of life. i’ll write about it soon as i’m starting to get ready for the new year myself.

hope you’re having a great day! Mike

      1. Hey CJ, glad you enjoyed my post today. i like it when ppl can find value in the stuff that i write. thats really the goal of the blog along with it being a pleasant general interest page.

i didnt want to make that post too long because the subject matter was exhaustive enough, but what you said in this post resonates with me about how fickle life is and how the forces beyond our knowledge can snatch us away suddenly. i really do believe this and when those days are marked on my calendar, its to make me stop and reassess things, remind myself that any little thing can snowball into a massive life changing problem and thus, i need to run things via subtle auto-pilot while concentrating on just getting home safe.

you’ll see me on these days being generally nice to people and just letting small stuff slide.

those calendar dates are also meant to remind me that life can’t be all about new and different things all the time because they bring new types of problems. so with that im also reminded to just get more mileage with what i have now.

again, glad you enjoyed my little pseudo science πŸ˜‚
