I love the idea of this. A dedicated space just for me, set up the way I want it, just for writing and reading. What a dream!
But there’s these people in my house. They won’t get out. They’ll barely leave me alone half the time.
Most of them call me Mom, the grown man calls me his woman. Ugghh. I’m forever indebted to them. Or something. I mean the older ones will leave me be for minutes at a time if I request it but the four year old, it’s a bit more tricky where he’s concerned. The grown man I just need to give a certain look to and he’ll go outside and leave me be.
In all seriousness, I actually have been thinking of setting up a space with a desk, where I can write and also do some work when I “work from home”. It’s just to find that perfect space. It would mean moving something somewhere else.
I had gotten in the habit a couple of years back, of writing from in bed. It was my comfy space. Whether it was jotting things down in my journal or an article for the newspaper, my bed was where I could be in peace and quiet with minimal interruptions. I had a really good flow going in there.
But since Sid joined our family in May of 2022, that became pretty much impossible.
The last couple of years I’ve been writing usually early in the morning before he’s awake, sitting on the couch and it’s mostly worked. But I’d love a space that’s just for me.
I’ll work on this, once I get the Christmas tree down and do a good clean up.
It will be cozy and colourful with some good lighting. And it will be just for me.
