If we’re talking tv shows, I find watching curling, baseball and hunting/fishing shows super dull.
In real life, “shop talk” when I’m out in a social setting is boring. Especially if it doesn’t involve my shop.
People talking for nothing or just to talk bores me.
When I was in college our class had to do practicums which were like a work experience type of situation in a hospital or personal care home. These occurred continuously throughout the nursing program, and at the end of each shift the class had to meet and sit down to chat.
It was called post-conference. The point of it was to discuss what we did that day, what we saw, what we liked or didn’t like and blah blah blah.
I just wanted to go home. I complained almost everyday to the instructor. Why do we have to do this?? This is so boring. I don’t need to talk about what I did, I did it, it’s over, let’s go! But some of my classmates just ate that stuff up. They couldn’t wait to SHARE whatever little stupid thing they did that day. Like they needed some kind of applause or reassurance.
It drove me crazy. I probably drove my instructor crazy whining about it.
I talked as fast as I could about my day when it was my turn. “Was on OBS today, saw a baby being born, skipped breakfast because I didn’t want to miss the birth, nearly fainted, had to leave the room and sit down, bye, can we go now?”
