Accidental roads

Daily writing prompt
You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

It would either be something cliche like “Life has a way of taking you down roads you never wanted to go, to places you never wanted to end up, but are glad you did.”

Or something simple like “Maybe I always loved attention a little too much.”

The roads thing is something I’ve thought about. Like when you take a job, and it’s just a nothing and boring type of job but at that job you meet someone who you talk to and get acquainted with.

The conversation accidentally pulls something out of you. It’s something you’ve kept in the back of your mind. You recognize this thing, and you want this thing. And all of a sudden you’re chasing after it and your life is turned upside down in only good ways.

You end up down a road you didn’t know existed, at least not for yourself. It always only existed for other people.

It’s just so interesting where these accidental roads take us in life.

  1. “Maybe I always loved attention a little too much.” would be a great first line for an autobiography. I agree about those roads and how things that seem insignificant can be something big, or really nice.

      3. btw CJ, if you get a chance to watch the vid i posted today, you should watch starting from the minute mark. the monologue talks about accidents being the building blocks of evolution and it ties in with what you wrote about roads and impacts. in fact, it does more than tie in with your conclusion it validates it 🙂
