Besides the Christmas movies I watch with the kids every year, there are some movies I’ve watched more than once and then made the kids watch at some point in their childhoods.
Some of them like the original version of Adventures in Babysitting with Elisabeth Shue, the kids and I watched over and over and over. The Great Outdoors with John Candy was another.
My kids had all the lines memorized. Is there anything more annoying than watching a movie with one person in the room saying the lines over top of the actor?
When my three older kids were very small and we were on a roadtrip somewhere, you can bet those little dvd players they had replayed movies countless times. I think one trip we took, Bella-Lena and Taz watched the original Wizard of Oz about ten times.
Another was a movie, an old old movie, called Toby Tyler. It was made in the 60’s but I think set to look more like the 30’s. For some reason, they were obsessed with that movie. We still recite some lines from that movie just to tease each other and it’s been close to 20 years since we watched it.
Movies I’ve seen more than 5 times would be The Sound of Music, Love Actually, The Family Stone, Elf and the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
When Sid was in his dinosaur phase we watched Jurassic World probably at least a dozen times. I miss that.
