Always something

Daily writing prompt
Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

It seems I’m always trying out some new self-improvement theme. I keep them in an imaginary rolodex and when I get bored with one or I think I’ve mastered it, I pull out another.

Radical acceptance. Accept it, whatever it is, let it in, don’t fight it. That’s the only way to get rid of it.

Challenge myself to not complain, compare or criticize.

Stay present. Fight the want to go other places in my head.

Select my thoughts, the same way I select my clothes. Yeah but you should see the wardrobe crisis I have some days and the pile of tried on and tossed clothes on the chair in my room.

Don’t multitask. Do one thing at a time and put all of my focus on that one chore.

And the one I’m currently working on: don’t worry about what other people think. I possess a certain amount of idgaf inherently, but then I let my mind veer off and I wonder what others think of me, based on what might have been said about me. I love the saying “what other people say about you is none of your business”.

I tell my kids this all the time, so why don’t I have it down pat?

  1. multitasking was the big thing for me. sure 2 or 3 things can be managed in conjunction but I refuse to do it if possible. Mike

  2. Mike somehow when I went to reply to your comment I accidently deleted it lol…was going to say that at one time multi-tasking was revered, in the more more more/grind culture. Thank god we’re drifting away from that.

    1. Lol well just to clarify, I never actually used one myself but I remember my aunt having one on her desk in her home office and I thought it was so cool 😎

  4. “what other people say about you is none of your business” – I love this! I need to work on this, too. My second son is graduating this year. My stress level is through the roof as I think about possibly running into former in-laws and such. It really shouldn’t matter, but it’s hard to not think about
