That time I sat next to a complete stranger on a flight and he spilled his guts to me about losing his son just a couple of years (or less) prior, will always be one of the more interesting moments of my life. Especially if we’re talking random moments with strangers.
I wrote about it in detail last year to answer this prompt. We were about the same age and it was one of those moments in time where you feel like like somehow this person isn’t a stranger, he’s someone you met in a former life or this meeting of strangers is kismet. Like something extra special.
I can only hope he felt the same. Or an ounce of the same.
Yesterday I was in line at the grocery store and the guy ahead of me was about to pay and remembered that there was something he’d forgotten to grab. The cashier assured him he had time to run back and get it, “yes go get it”.
I would never run back and grab something I’d forgotten once in the line unless it was a long line and I knew I had time. I worry that people would be standing there waiting on me. But this guy was obviously more chill.
As he squeezed by me I said “make it fast”, in my best serious but kind of joking voice. Sometimes people don’t know how to take me and this guy wasn’t sure if he should laugh or cry, he said he’d be back asap.
I thought I was hilarious but Bella-Lena rolls her eyes and says I’m terribly embarrassing.
Hope everybody enjoys their Good Friday today. We got walloped with a bunch of snow the last two days so everything is buried once again. Gross.
