I was hard pressed to come up with an answer to yesterday’s prompt about risks and now you want me to try again?
I’m not really a risk taker. I don’t gamble. I don’t even buy lotto tickets. It’s not that I’m rigid, I’m probably even a bit too laissez-faire. But I don’t make big moves for the most part. Or very rarely.
I’m home sick with a head cold today but honestly not minding it at all. For one, it allows me to spend time with Sid, as I kept him home from daycare.
And two, our hot water tank died last night. Normally that’s something Clint would deal with but he’s a part of “Mine Rescue” at his work (he works in a mine), and today is their big Mine Rescue competition.
That consists of writing tests and going through scenarios, mock emergencies. He was already very stressed out and focused on that.
So I said fear not, wonder woman will step in, and so I made the phone call and the plumber guy is here right now checking it out. I am also making the executive decisions about what to do with it, go girl power! (flexing bicep)
Not only that, I am back to pioneer days boiling water on the stove to use for doing dishes and washing my face. Okay so it’s an electric stove that turns on in a flash so maybe not quite pioneer-esque but it’s a pretty humbling experience let me tell you, UNLOADING the dirty dishes from the dishwasher into the sink and washing them all by hand.
When I loaded the dishwasher last night I assumed I would set it for the three hour delay and it would do its magic while we slept, however, realizing just before bed last night that we had no hot water, was a bit of a game changer.
So that’s my Friday so far.
