No wahoo’ing

Daily writing prompt
What was the last live performance you saw?

Okay you guys are about to find out the truth about me.

I’m a super boring person.

The last live performance I went to was when a portion (I’m assuming it was a portion and not the whole thing) of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra was travelling through small towns in Manitoba last year and made a stop here in Thompson. Bella-Lena and I went to watch.

Never really was a fan of instrumental music but it was actually okay. Or better than okay.

The last live performance before that would have been close to fifteen years ago. I was never really one for concerts but my ex-husband was so he was always wanting to see different performers and attend concerts.

The thought of going to a concert now induces anxiety. When I was younger and probably had a few “drinks” at a concert, it was all fun ‘n games but nowadays, I don’t know…like would I have to stand up out of my seat?

I can’t see myself clapping, cheering, singing out loud or wahoo’ing. I might be too self-conscious. Normally I’m rarely, if ever, self-conscious but in that situation I would feel out of my element I think.

When I saw the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra last year it was very tame. Nobody stood up or sang. There was no wahoo’ing.

We watched, clapped and left. My kind of concert.

  1. I completely understand that! My years in radio had me at a lot of concerts. Standing through a show when I paid for a “seat,” was annoying. I hated leaving with the ringing in my ears.

I’ve caught the local Symphony Orchestra a few times and enjoyed it. I’ve been meaning to see another one of their concerts for awhile.

      1. lol. i feel like i need to oscillate between the extremes but i don’t want to go too far out and lose track. being boring has such a negative connotation but the positives it offers are priceless – i just don’t think people truly understand.

  3. Nothing wrong with taking in a bit of culture and being able to sit down at the same time. Yeah you’re right, there’s always the ‘should I be standing now, do I stand the whole time thing…’. I don’t mind going to Jazz stuff and sipping a glass of red wine, that’s pretty cool.

  4. I’m not a concert person, either. Seems like a punishment: crowded, sweaty, people spilling beer on your shoes, dirty toilets, music too loud, artificial smoke making me cough 😀 I sound like a grandma but I’m really not, hah!
