What sacrifices have you made in life?

Well unfortunately, or fortunately, I’ve not sacrificed life or limb so I’ll have to refer to the old stand-by response of sacrifices made for our children.

But still, it’s nothing extraordinary or amazing. Cool dinners or cold coffee because we had to tend to their needs first.

Lack of sleep in the newborn stage or when a child is sick all through the night.

It’s no biggie. It’s what you sign up for when you have kids.

Currently, I sacrifice my sanity just a teensy bit, when each morning on the drive to drop Sid off at daycare, we HAVE to listen to his playlist.

Yes, four year olds have playlists. It painfully consists of music from these weird Shin Sonic YouTube videos and also two songs from the Captain America movie. Once I’ve dropped him off though, it’s all good and I can listen to what I want.

Which brings me to a random question that I hope a few people, (who are still reading, fingers crossed) will answer: when you’re in your car and singing your little heart out, in an urban setting not the highway, do you keep right on singing when you’re meeting others cars or stopped next to someone at a red light or do you pause until you’ve passed them?

  2. Hmm… Tough question. ๐Ÿ˜Ž I haven’t driven a car in years. But if I think back to the days when I used to drive, I don’t remember ever singing my little heart out while driving around the treacherous mean streets of Philly. Too dangerous.

  3. Thank you for this sweet post, Carla–I, too, have listened to a lot of crappy kids’ music! I’ve listened to a lot of great kids’ music, too, I guess: my daughters and I used to love a local radio show called Greasy Kid Stuff (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greasy_Kid_Stuff) with lots of They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Richman, Gustifer Yellowgold, etc. But! To answer your question, I try to keep singing if people catch me at it at a red light.

  4. Keep on singing! Why interrupt your personal musical flow, because of what others may see or think.

Especially if it is Praise and Worship. Because then, Iโ€™m in the presence of God. Even if Iโ€™m in my car. And it would be disrespectful to stop Praise and Worship to my creator, just because I cared about what somebody in the car next to me thought if they saw me singing..

  5. kids playlists are so funny ๐Ÿ™‚ my niece had the baby shark phase and disney stuff playing all the time. it was nice. i actually kind of miss hearing her listen to it. my nephews had a similar phase but it was very short lived before they moved on to their dad’s music.

my windows are tinted so people can only barely make out the blur of my motion when the main chorus for Whitesnake’s Here I Go Again hits lol ๐Ÿ™‚ Mike
