Bones & weiners

The writing prompt asked about broken bones…so lame and anyway I answered it last year.

Hearing about each other’s broken bones is not exactly thrilling, but last year I had a different outlook on these prompts. I was a newbie to WordPress, I loved that someone asked these questions of me and wanted me to talk about, well, me.

Like a guest in someone’s home, I was shy to overshare about myself, unless asked and made sure I took my turn in conversing. I tried not to dominate conversations.

But now that I’m very comfortable in this house, I’ll speak freely of myself, no prompt required. Nor do I care if I overshare, that’s who I am.

It’s a beautiful sunny morning here albeit chilly. Was minus two Celsius when I woke up. Sid and I are still in bed (my bed) chillaxing. He’s eating watermelon and watching Minecraft videos on YouTube and I’m drinking black coffee, writing in my journal and blabbing here on WP.

We had his Gotcha Day party yesterday, I think he loved it. I served a very unhealthy menu of lasagna, hot dogs, cheese pizza from Pizza Hut and watermelon. He actually requested spaghetti not hot dogs but there was literally no ground beef in town yesterday. All three grocery stores were out.

I can’t stand hot dogs anymore and even though they do look appetizing when cooked on the grill, I can’t do it. A few months ago I shared a post on Facebook about what’s in them and though I always knew that “lips and assholes” content of weiners, I was not prepared to see that also blood, intestines, and other disgusting things were in them.

I had a lot of backlash over sharing that post, people saying OMG why would you share that, I’ll never eat hot dogs again??!!! I didn’t mean for that to happen but hey, facts are facts…even if they’re FB facts. It’s probably accurate but I’m not googling it to find out, no thanks. Makes me want to gag.

Anyway, we don’t buy hot dogs often. Sid actually requested hot dogs a few weeks ago but I bought smokies instead and we grilled them, put them in a bun with ketchup and mustard and he was none the wiser. Nutritionally they’re not the healthiest food either but they have to be better than weiners, no?

  1. i’m glad Sid enjoyed his party 🙂 great Mom-ing CJ. I could use some lasagna right now.

as for hot dogs, yeah – i realize now why i put mustard or sour kraut on them, that cured sensation needs to be masked. i’ve tried frying them (or as they’re called in NJ, “ripping” them aka “rippers”). it kind of makes a difference but yeah – still a hot dog. Mike

    1. Thanks Mike ☺️
We didn’t eat hot dogs often when we were kids but when Mom cooked them she sliced them lengthwise, almost right through but not quite n opened them up, ripped pieces of processed Kraft cheese slices and placed on the weiner then broiled in the oven on a cookie sheet. Soooo good!

  2. They’ve put hot hogs at the same carcinogen level as cigarettes, so it makes me think it doesn’t really hurt to have a cigar every now and then ;-p

Well done you guys for that cake, that’s awesome! Really nice to see a lovely family.
