3 years of Sid

Three years ago today, this little eighteen month old boy, who’s now four and a half, was placed in my arms for the first time ever.

I always knew that I wanted to be a foster parent, I just didn’t know it would be life changing. For Clint, I don’t even need to go out on a limb to say it hit him like a bag of hammers. What did? Well, the crazy love we feel for Sid.

The first eighteen months of Sid’s life were not easy. Apprehended at two months old due to his biological parents addictions and violence in the home. Flown out of his community at two months old never to return. (We will take him someday).

He was placed initially with a foster family who neglected him in every possible way and then thankfully, ended up with us at a year and a half.

He was small for his age, severely bull-legged and had a couple of small health issues.

But I knew what he needed. He needed love. So much love. Healthy food. Fresh air and time outside to play. He needed interactions with people and attention.

He blossomed.

I could go on and on about how he’s changed our lives and made not just Clint and I’s lives better, but also his sisters and his “big bro” as he calls Taz.

He’s smart and sweet and beautiful and perfect.

  3. It’s not too often I’m speechless out here but I don’t know what to say other than people like you and Clint make this sometimes unhappy world a brighter and better place. Sid looked so sad on day two and so happy at week two and now a handsome little man 18 months later? Is Happy Homecoming Day appropriate?

  5. Oh this is so beautiful and what lovely pictures!
Hats off to you. I fostered teenagers for four years and would not change that experience for anything! These kids need love, stability, understanding and support, all of which are reflected in that last picture.

      2. Yep and you know what, i had specifically asked for only babies as, well, idk i just love babies and didn’t want difficult teens as i had 3 of my own…we waited n waited…i kept txting the social worker saying there’s no babies yet?!?! This went on for several weeks n then i msgd her again, asking, and she said well i do have an 18 mth old…i said i will gladly take him! I think she thought i only wanted little babies…but if i hadn’t texted her then to ask, he probably wouldn’t be ours πŸ₯°
