Living on the edge

Daily writing prompt
What quality do you value most in a friend?

This is perfect timing because just yesterday I texted one of my best friends to confess a teensy little sin and she replied back with hearts and said I don’t blame you and I don’t judge you for it.

Like how perfect a response? Who doesn’t want to hear that?

I can only hope she feels supported in the same way by me. I will strive for that.

Fire update: there’s no word on our city evacuating as of yet and I hope it doesn’t come to that. Residents are thinking it and feeling it though, stocking up on things and filling their gas tanks. I should really fill mine up today. When you leave Thompson, going south, there is only one road and you drive through nothing but bush, like literally, for over 300 km. The nearest town with a gas station is 328 km south. There are fires in all directions around us but so far none within a close vicinity. We just need some rain.

    1. Thanks Mike, yes this year has really been an anomaly with snow melting pretty early and then no precipitation to speak of since….there are fires in some of the communities north of us, Lynn Lake and Split Lake have been evacuated. As well to the west of us Flin Flon was evacuated and one hour south there’s still a fire burning near Wabowden and then also in Cross Lake. So much uncertainty. I really feel for the people sleeping on cots in gymnasiums and things like that. Not fun.
