Wish you hadn’t asked me to get creative, or think about myself or summarize my personality. This is hurting my brain. And it’s Monday.
My version of fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me would be; fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me thrice, shame on me. Then I’d learn the fourth time.
Sometimes I’m just too nice and want to give people the benefit of the doubt. I was thinking about this on my way to work this morning. Am I too soft, too laid back? Is it laziness?
I think it’s because of this that I ended up with a stalker about ten years ago, but that’s a story for another time.
I never realized until people pointed it out, that I am laid back. That’s not to say I never act like I’ve got a bee in my bonnet because I certainly do, but majority of the time I’m chill.
When I worked on the Acute Psych Unit years ago, my work partner and I almost never had a code white (violent patient). We attributed that to both of our easy-going demeanors. Other rotations were having code whites every other shift. That’s insane.
They said my partner and I let the patients away with anything and that’s why we rarely had a code white. But it wasn’t true. It’s just that you have to pick your battles, and when you do, be nice about it.
In the current news of my life I’m happy to report that because today is the last day of Clinical for me, that means it’s the last day I have to be out the door and at work ridiculously early. I’m on easy street from here on out. My students will continue with Clinical, but more independently and I’ll just be checking in here and there. Then in three weeks they’ll be completely done and I’ll be off for the summer.
Also, we got a smattering of rain last night. Yahooooooo. Not enough to form puddles or anything, just enough to see that the street is damp. It’s better than nothing. It’s also quite cool outside, just a few degrees above freezing.
Sid is supposed to start soccer tonight, hopefully it happens. Last week it was cancelled due to poor air quality (thick smoke) and then because of cold and windy weather.
Happy Monday!
