I hope not to bring down the mood with today’s post, I think I did a good enough job of that yesterday. But I do want to dedicate today’s post to my cousin Chad who left this world yesterday, suddenly.
He was eight years older than me I believe. He lived in Alberta (two provinces away), so I didn’t get to see him very often. But over this past year, we had developed a friendship over text and had facetimed.
He, like me, had gone through a divorce and all the fun that comes with that. So we had that in common. Also, all of our crazy family in common.
When he was in the hospital last year to have surgery to remove the cancer they’d found in his colon, we were texting back and forth and I was trying to cheer him up by sending memes.
He loved that Instagram account featuring Bruce, the Holstein cow, and his owner. He was forever sending me those reels, which I thought were okay-ish lol.
Chad was probably the only family member I allowed into my blogging world. Most of my family doesn’t know I have a blog but I actually forwarded some of the stuff I wrote to Chad for him to read. Especially if it was about his mom, my Aunty Janice.
So I’m sure he wouldn’t mind that I’m dedicating today’s post to him. He had one of those larger than life personalities. And I’m not just saying that because he’s gone. He was a natural comedian and storyteller.
I had actually hoped that one day I would fly out there for a visit, without kids and just hangout with him. Spend some real time getting to know each other as adults.
I guess that’s why they say don’t put off for tomorrow…
