Oof…Friday the 13th felt heavy. I’m happy we’re on the other side of it. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that life’s little stressors don’t just sprout up here and there at varied times, they rain down all at once in a span of twenty-four hours.
A great way to deal with stress is to laugh and I haven’t been doing enough of that lately.
Mother’s Day weekend the kids and I drove to Lenswood to see all of my family and spend the weekend with Mom. My sisters and I decided we should get a “sisters picture” since we don’t really get together all that often.
So we stood in birth order and asked Bella-Lena to give us old gals some advice on how to pose so that we would look as skinny and young as possible. The one thing we are really good at, my sisters and I, is making fun of ourselves. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. So it’s always lots of laughs when we’re trying to look our best for a picture.
I think Bella-Lena snapped probably close to fifty pics and I hated myself in every single one but I kept about six. I’m always mortified by the difference between what I see in the mirror versus how I look when someone else takes my picture.
Then I remind myself I’m not thirty anymore, I’m nearly fifty. So be nice. But it’s hard to get used to this double chin I now possess. Really hard. If I ever get plastic surgery it will be to cut it out.
Anyway, I digress…back to the moment. The annual sisters picture. It was fun.
