How do you practice self-care?

I’m not really sure how to answer this. What constitutes self-care and what is just general hygiene?

Although I’m vain there are certain things that I don’t make time for. Pedicures are one of them. Only had one or two in my life.

Haven’t had a massage in years.

Oh I suppose I could include my nail appointments as self-care. Because I love long fake nails, always have.

I’ve never ever had a facial or been to a spa.

I dye my own hair, cut my own hair, paint my own toenails.

I think writing is part of self-care. As is my precious alone time each morning to take some deep breaths, practice gratitude.

It’s important to me that I remind myself I am not my thoughts, I can select my thoughts and I need to watch my thoughts. Knowing these things has helped me immensely.

Another busy week ahead and my final week of work before the summer off. Bella-Lena’s birthday tomorrow, my students graduate at the UCN Convocation Wednesday morning and then Cordelia’s high school graduation Thursday. Then I can take a deep breath and relax.

    Try chanting ‘Omm’ with a certain breathing exercise,it’s the sound of the universe, it helps a lot…
