All the kid things

Daily writing prompt
What are you most excited about for the future?

In the next couple of weeks? Excited to get outta dodge and drive south to Winnipeg. Sid, Cordelia and myself. A mini-vacay for Sid. We’ll have more than three restaurants to choose from, we’ll go to Tinkertown to take him on the rides and stay at a hotel with a kid-friendly pool area so he can swim each day. I thought about going to the Zoo but honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about them. I did take my older three kids years ago but then I watched Blackfish. Maybe I’ll tell myself the animals in there have been rescued and are being treated ten times better than if left in the wild? I love being in the city but after a few days I’ll be happy to return to the north, the bush and being in the middle of nowhere.

In the next couple of months? Sid starts Kindergarten in September! I hope it’s a smooth adjustment and that he loves school. With the youngest of my three older kids just graduating high school (Cordelia), it’s a mixture of excitement/anxiety knowing we’re starting all over again from the beginning. Home reading, homework, parent-teacher conferences, school assemblies, Christmas concerts, fundraisers, Halloween parties etc. EEK. But we can do it.

In the next decade or so? I do look forward to the day when my three older kids are somewhat settled in relationships and careers, it’s Christmas and they’re all coming home with their spouses and kids for a northern Christmas and Mom’s cooking.

Last night at 10:34 pm, daylight still not bad esp considering how smoky it is!
Was trying to keep Sid indoors as much as possible yesterday because the smoke was so thick outside, went to kill some time at the mall on the Stuffy Riders

It’s a bit stressful chasing after Sid on it through the mall lol, his driving skills need some work ☺️
