Hate to be the one to whine about how expensive life is right now but holy moly, you need to almost sell a kidney to take a family holiday. Remember when a fairly nice hotel was $140 a night? Those days are over. Now you’re looking at, bare minimum, $250 for a nice hotel. When the kids and I went to Victoria, BC on spring break this year, those hotels were more like $400 per night. It’s crazy.
In 2009 my ex-husband and I took my 3 older kids to Disney World. Airfare for 5 people plus a one week stay in a very nice 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom place that had in-suite laundry, a pool, a patio etc, cost us $3800. Crazy right?
I do plan on taking Sid to Disneyland (because I’ve already seen Disney World, plus I’ve never been to California), but it probably won’t be for a year or so.
I’m caught between a rock and hard place about whether I’ll take all four of my kids or not. Myself and Sid going, no biggie. Or even to take one of the older kids wouldn’t add too much to the cost but to pay for all five of us to go?
It’s going to take a lot of moolah.
I think it’s time to start a side hustle, maybe a pedicure, wink wink.
