Prairie provinces x3

Supper

Took us just over twelve hours but we made it to Calgary, Alberta.

Tomorrow morning just a half hour drive or so to Aunty Janice’s.

While I was driving today I was thinking about the many trips my older sister and I made as kids over the years on that exact road. Sometimes with our parents and sometimes with our grandparents.

In the same way that back then, kids survived on water fountains at school and avocado toast hadn’t been invented (in my world avocados hadn’t been invented), snacking as you drove also hadn’t been invented. It was really unheard of to bring drinks or snacks along.

You better have eaten breakfast before you left and there would be one stop for lunch at a highway cafe where you could either get a burger or a ham sandwich.

My grandparents were big on packing picnic lunches to save a buck and I knew all the picnic/rest stops across the prairie provinces.

Long day. I showered and ate and now to catch up on some WP posts ☺️

  2. Today, the kids have movies and tablets to play on plus bags of treats to keep them busy. Do the kids still kick the back of your seat? My father hated that.

    1. Yes you’re right about that lol
They do kick the seats and I am very tolerant of it because I was always the one catching flack from Dad about it and sometimes it’s hard to keep your feet on the floor every second of a drive lol
