I have so many things running through my head right now. And a bit of angst.
Today is my first day back to work after being home for the last nine weeks. I’m not really at work though, I’m sitting at my kitchen table. We have two weeks to prep before classes start on September 4. I plan to do a bit of a hybrid work-from-home/work-onsite for this week, because, well, Sid.
I think the forest fires are behind us. It’s drizzly outside and we’ve had quite a bit of rain in the past week. Thank goodness. The City rescinded the “pre-evacuation order” on Friday. Thank goodness.
So much to be grateful for.
Saturday was a sunny gorgeous day and as I sat outside I wrote this little diddy about summer coming to a close.
The one pm sun used to be an eleven am sun.
The big white lilac tree has done its thing. The heavenly scented blooms are only a memory. Its leaves turned now from green to a deep purple and soon those leaves will fall.
In certain corners there’s more shade than sun.
Tanlines are disappearing faster than the warmth in the air.
Yet the sun stays hot, it barely falters.
Summer is in its final act.
The curtains are about to close.
I will clap and cheer.
It was quite the show.
